Synopsis

The AIDS JaaGO project presents four short films by directors Mira Nair, Vishal Bhardwaj, Santosh Sivan and Farhan Akhtar that aim to dismantle myths and misconceptions about HIV/AIDS. This project was the brainchild of Mira Nair and is produced by her company, Mirabai Films. The four AIDS Jaago films come from different parts of India - each with in its own genre and each with a different point about HIV/AIDS.

Blood Brothers, stars Siddhartha (Rang de Basanti) as a successful young man who receives a positive HIV diagnosis and subsequently allows his life to fall apart. Wandering aimlessly through city streets, his encounters demonstrate the different ways HIV/AIDS victims cope with their diagnoses.

Born and raised in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, Vishal Bhardwaj is the son of Ram Bhardwaj, a popular poet and lyricist. Shortly after graduating from the Hindu College of Delhi University, he began his entertainment career with CBS Music Company in Delhi. After composing award-winning musical scores for films such as Maachis, Satya, Chachi 420, and Omkara, he directed his first feature, a children's film titled Makdee. Subsequent projects included "Maqbool," an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth, The Blue Umbrella, and Omkara. He is currently filming Kaminey and recently announced a film starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Bhardwaj is married to singer Rekha Bhardwaj.
