Synopsis
The AIDS JaaGO project presents four short films by directors Mira Nair, Vishal Bhardwaj, Santosh Sivan and Farhan Akhtar that aim to dismantle myths and misconceptions about HIV/AIDS. This project was the brainchild of Mira Nair and is produced by her company, Mirabai Films. The four AIDS Jaago films come from different parts of India - each with in its own genre and each with a different point about HIV/AIDS.
Prarambha - The Beginning, features South Indian superstar Prabhudeva as a truck driver who discovers a young boy named Kittu stowed away in his vehicle. He reluctantly agrees to help Kittu in his search to find his long lost mother and encounters a world of ignorance and prejudice he never knew existed.
Santosh Sivan, born and raised in Trivandrum, Kerala, is a critically acclaimed Indian film director and cinematographer. He has won five National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, and ten international film festival awards. Sivan is the older brother of film director Sanjiv Sivan and younger brother of director Sangeeth Sivan. Their father is a renowned director and cinematographer of Malayalam documentary films, and runs the Trivandrum-based Sivan Studio. Sivan's repetoire of award-winning films includes Ashoka the Great, Theeviravaathi: The Terrorist, and Balle Balle! Amritsar to L.A. His upcoming projects include directing The Wedding Party for BBC Films.
