Synopsis

A young businessman from New York (Layne Edelman) visits a local diner in Topeka while on a business trip through the midwest. Layne becomes immediately cautious about his new environment as he overhears two women (Peggy and Elizabeth) discussing a “conference” that all of the townsfolk seem to be in reverence of. Two men, hunkered over a mysterious blue book in the corner (Joe and Micah) antagonize Layne following a mishap over some coffee while an elderly man with dementia (Samuel Sr.) won’t…stop… staring. When the townsfolk overhear Layne mention that he is Jewish, tensions immediately rise and a heated clash between two cultures ensues as Layne ignites a series of events that forever alters the town. Where are you from? When is the last time you left the city?
