Synopsis
"528 New York" - After premiering at the Big Apple Film Festival, KAFFNY and the inaugural Socially Relevant Film Festival, director Jules Suo's short drama deals with the breakdown of communication between divergent communities in New York City.
The three interlocking stories deal with a Middle Eastern cab driver getting into a fight with a white, middle-class couple; a pair of police officers wrongfully targeting an African-American youth; and, a Korean couple moving into a new apartment building in Queens. Influenced by filmmakers Michael Haneke and Hong Sang-Soo, director Suo, a Korean-American filmmaker, explores the minutiae of every-day relationships in unexpected ways.
