Synopsis

Elena and Andrea, a young married couple, arrive at their newly bought country house. A disturbing atmosphere pervades the old mansion upsetting her, but bewitching him. Day after day Andrea explores the building and the surrounding wood, behaving more and more oddly. Elena doesn’t understand what’s going on: Andrea seems to establish a symbiotic connection with the mansion and lets his mind wander, upsetting and frightening his wife. Something terrible is lurking under the ancient foundations, something that will affect them more than they could ever imagine...

Dal profondo is a short horror movie that recalls the foreboding films of 70s-era Roman Polanski and the literary works of Lovecraft, Stephen King and Edgar Allan Poe. Having played at the Cannes Film Festival’s edgy Short Film Corner in 2013, the 20-minute pic is set to satisfy a unique and mixed audience of art house, indie as well as genre fans this Halloween.A sumptuously faded villa in the lush Italian countryside is the setting of this deceptive thriller, which leaves its audience guessing with a haunting climax. Powered by the icy, reptilian performance of lead actor Davide Bardi, the short concerns a vacationing couple whose marital bliss is quickly dissolved by a mysterious force in the swanky dwelling.
